Washington's Bethany Community Church Gives Former Strip Club a Holy Purpose

(Photo: Bill Brammer) A former strip club turned coffee shop and office space for the multisite Bethany Community Church, based in Seattle. The shop, known as One Cup, is located in Shoreline, a city north of Seattle.

A church in Washington state is converting a former strip club into an evangelistic facility that's serving the community seven days a week.


Bethany Community Church, a Seattle-based multi-site congregation founded in 1900, acquired the former strip club called "Sugars" and has turned it into a site for missions.


The strip club was located in the city of Shoreline, which is north of Seattle. The facility will serve as part of Bethany Community Church North.

As many as 54 percent of Republicans have said in a survey that they believe President Barack Obama "deep down" is a Muslim, and only 9 percent trust that he's really a Christian.


Alex Theodoridis, an assistant professor of political science at the University of California, Merced, described the results as "staggering" in an article for The Washington Post on Wednesday.

More than 200 Assyrian Christians have been kidnapped by the terrorist organization ISIS, and prayers have gone out around the world for their safe return. Two members of the Assyrian Church of the East spoke with The Christian Post about the situation in Syria and the loss of several religious artifacts at the hands of ISIS.

Undaunted by the slaughter of 21 Christians in Libya, the director of the Bible Society of Egypt saw a golden gospel opportunity.

“We must have a Scripture tract ready to distribute to the nation as soon as possible,” Ramez Atallah told his staff the evening an ISIS-linked group released its gruesome propaganda video. Less than 36 hours later, Two Rows by the Sea was sent to the printer.
